Awkward: The Life and Times of Tim

Besides Breaking Bad, I recently discovered a show that I really enjoy: The Life and Times of Tim.  It came with all the criteria that satisfy my casual entertainment need: funny script, awkward situation, passive mellow main character, almost intentionally ugly drawing, not much continuity, and frequent curse words.  It's now on HBO in season 3, and I hope it will continue since I need some harmless stupidity to wind me down after a crazy tense work day.

A stupid way of missing my ballet class

I was supposed to take ballet class every Tuesday.  I said supposed because starting from months ago, it's getting harder and harder to keep that schedule. Mostly it is because of my work.  Usually no one forces me, but if I find myself in too deep on trying to get some coding done, I will eventually keep pressing on work and skip the class.  Today I missed my ballet, but strangely, it's not because of work.

I left office sharp at 6:00 pm.  It always takes about 45 minutes to get to the ballet studio at downtown, and the traffic can be terrible at times.  My experience was that if I leave at 6 pm, I will always be able to make it to the 7 pm class.  So I hit the road, and continue playing the audiobook "1Q84" that I was listening since last trip to Dallas.  Everything went as planned.  The traffic wasn't good, but it was in my plan anyway.

Then I reached Houston downtown.  Things still went ok until ONE right turn.  The next thing I knew, I was in an area that I was not familiar with.  The traffic was pretty bad so there was not much room to navigate around.  Eventually all these one ways lead me back to the highway, and next thing I know, I was leaving downtown.  I was like "son of the bitch"!

It took me 10 minutes to get to an exit, and I U-turned back.  Yet, I had hard time finding an exit that got me back to downtown.  The traffic was slow like almost stop-and-go, and it was 6:50 pm already.  Even if I could find an exit, I will not be in the class room until 7:20 pm, and they wouldn't allow people to get into the classroom after 7:15 pm.  "Screw it" I told myself, and thus I drove back home.  1 hour 15 minutes wasted, and I was like only a few block away from the studio when I made the wrong turn.

Even now, I still don't quite understand how I managed to make that wrong turn.  It was as if some force we trying to keep me from taking the ballet class today for some unknown reason.  I didn't know why but my heart was kind of pounding and felt disturbed when I was heading to the class (but then it could be caused by the audiobook that I was listening.)

Oh well, damn it, need to wait for next week then.  Maybe I should play Dance Central 2 tonight instead.

Good old days isn't really that good

After finding out the ways to play Dreamcast and Playstation (One) games on my MacMini computer, I suddenly went all crazy playing Dreamcast and Playstation games this weekend.  For one, I spent/wasted a lot of time in my college and .com employment days, downloading Playstation and Dreamcast games from Internet.  Now all these discs (almost a thousand in totally) are still in my closet, and many of them didn't get played even once.  Sure I have both the physical console, but the idea of hooking up 2 old console to my TV, and then everytime I need to switch game, I have to physically swap disc ... those idea turned me down.  Emulator allows me to store all the games on my central server, support Saving State so that I can keep playing that certain hard to finish level until I pass it, makes emulator such an awesome solution for me.

But then, after playing handful of these games, I started to realize that the love of oldie video games may be a bit overrated.  Sure some of the great old games like Super Mario Bros 3 or Street Fighter II  are still awesome, but there are a lot of crap lousy shitty video games flooded the console market.  And I was dumb enough to even downloaded a lot of these days.

I was, though, telling myself that playing these old shitty games is like watch shitty movies.  We do that not because we like the  content, but because we love the MOCK and LAUGH at those contents.

Hair Cut Day

Always love the feeling of having a hair cut, the feeling of turning from a hobo to a regular person.
