Work laptop

The weight of my office computer is killing me.  However, I need to bring this office computer to home if I need to work at home, or at least have an option to consider working at home.  So I kept having this idea to just leave my work computer at home so that I can VPN whenever I needed, and then bring my personal laptop back and fore office so that I can do work.

Currently I have this old EeeSlate and I tried to make it into my primary work laptop.  It sort of work, but eventually found it being too slow to be productive.   So at the end, if I really want to do what I wanted, I need to buy a powerful laptop.  But then I started to think, why should I spend money to buy a laptop for work?  I don't work at home that often anyway.  Is it really that hard to bring my work laptop home every once in a long while.

At the end I think I am just finding an excuse to buy a new powerful laptop.
