Spent two hours in Apple store last night

I spent two hours last night at Apple store comparing various new iPod in order to find one that I want to "committee on". So far my conclusion is that I may get a iPod classic because it gives me well balance feature even though iPod Touch has some cool feature. But then I still decided to wait because:
  • The homebrew scene of iPod Touch is in development, and it may be a good choice to get iPod Touch just as a WiFi device.
  • There are quite some issues on the the iPod Classic that needs to nail down, including issues mentioned in macInTouch and Apple's own technical forum.
Some additional issue on iPod Classic:
  • major slow down the song playback delay when browsing under the album flow mode.
  • I still cannot get over the fact that I need to reconvert all my video media file in order to put them into a iPod classic.
  • an additional USB cable (which allows me to use the iPod as an external harddisk at work) will cost me US$20, and the plug is so freaky proprietary. Apple just love keeping people in proprietary world.
  • The 160Gb seems to be more reasonable from price perspective, but I can feel the weight difference between 80Gb and 160Gb. 80Gb seems to be have better weight as a portable device. The 160Gb starts to become slightly too heavy to be a real portable.
I also found that the new third gen iPod nano is so not friendly to control. Controlling the click wheel on iPod classic was much better an experience.

Hopefully one day I will get myself an iPod, but for now I give it a pass.
