I always hope that I can simply integrate my Tablet PC in my daily so that I Can totally replace pen and paper. So far it's doing OK, but not good enough. For instance, pen support on Word 2007 allows me to make comment on a deployment document and then showed to my boss yesterday. So that was a plus. However, when I tried to scroll that document with ink on it, the page scroll speed was so slow that it was beyond frustrating. That shows that there's still a lot to improve on real life usage with ink.
And because of the booming NetBook, I don't think there will be much improvement on Tablet PC as most of the resource within and outside Microsoft would be driven away by other profitable projects instead of on Tablet PC. To me that's such a shame because Tablet PC, when implemented properly, can dramatically improve productivity and also enhance people's life. In fact, I wouldn't do as many sketches to practice my drawing if I don't have a Tablet PC.
Also, ever since I use Sleep Mode when closing the lid, I found myself using Tablet PC more often as Sleep mode shorten the bootup time, and it allows me to use the Tablet really as a LAPTOP device even with the heat generation because each of my use is such a short time period and there's not too much heat generated within the period. Sleep mode encourages me to close to lid more often, kind of encourage me to use the device on and off without having the Tablet left on all the time.
By the way, I was wondering, is there any tool that allows me to blog offline, and then have my blogs automatically uploaded to my blog hosting site once I have my Net connection back? Any comment?
